    • This is located at the eastern extremity of the Korean peninsula and the first place to see the sunrise.
      Sa-go Gyeokam Nam, the feng sui scholar in the reign of King Myeongjong of the Joseon dynasty in the 16th century, described this place as the tail of the tiger considering the shape of the national territory and the best and matchless propitious site, and Nam-seon Yukdang Choi picked this place, famous for beautiful sunrise, a one of the Twelve Scenic Spots of Joseon while depicting the Korean peninsula as the tiger clawing at the Maritime Province with its forepaw.

    • The temple was erected in the reign of King Jinpyeong, the 26th king of the Silla Dynasty, it was originally called Hangsasa, however, was renamed Oeosa later after a myth, in the myth, the Great Priest Wonhyo and priest Hyegong who practiced asceticism here challenged to bring two dead fish in the stream back to life using the power of Buddha, At the end, they saw one fish brought to life and swimming but the other one could not and each claimed that the live one is the one they brought to fife. This in Chinese characters is expressed as “Oeo” meaning “my fish”, and hence the name of the temple, Oeasa.

    • Beautiful Forest of Deok-dong Munhwa Village : Kang Lee, the fourth descendant of Eon-gwal Nongjae Lee, the younger brother of Eon-jeok Hoejae Lee, the great Confucian scholar of the Joseon Dynasty, chose this site 20km from Yangdong Village of Gyeongju and the family continued to live here for over 360 years and has formed the village of the Lee Clan of Yeogang. The younger brother, Gwal Lee, lived here to serve his mother after his elder brother Eon-jeok Haejae Lee entered the government and made Deok-dong Village the village of literary men for generations. For its highly praised natural environment and unique culture, it was designated as the Cultural Village by the Ministry of Culture in 1992, the Environment-friendly Village in 2001, and the fourth ‘Archive Village’ by National Archives of Korea of the Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs in 2011.

    Scenery around Sabang Commemorative Park

    • It opened in 2007 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the beginning of the modern erosion control project in Korea.
      The whole area of Odo-ri is one of the successful examples of the erosion control project and the whole 4,500ha area was greened in a short period of time by 3.6 million workers a year following the order of the former President Chung-hee Park in 1975. The park is composed of three exhibition halls showing the changes in the erosion control technology and various related materials, multipurpose theater, and outdoor erosion control facilities, and cultural relics exhibition halls exhibiting stone chamber tomb and stone-lined tomb from the Three States Period.

    Streamlet of Jungang Shopping Center

    • This is the typical attraction of Pohang that started the ‘Streamlet Craze’ in many cities of Korea. A streamlet was developed along 657m long road in the Jungang Shopping Center up to the six-way intersection, and also the artificial fall and pergola benches are installed and a variety of outdoor exhibitions and concerts are held to add to the fame of the culture street.
